Product Development Department

Product Manager

We have a diverse and talented team of employees who come to us from many kinds of backgrounds. We have an immediate need for a talented, experienced Product Manager located in our Evanston, IL office.  This Product Manager position will report to Senior Management within the Product Development group.

The Position
We are looking for someone with experience in product development and product management in the online space.  This person will track, analyze, and optimize current product performance, and help lead a team to develop and execute new initiatives in both new and existing businesses.

Responsibilities
  • Ownership of one or more products, helping to manage development, growth, and profitability

  • Prioritize and help manage product development initiatives
  • Serve as the key business liaison between Development, Marketing, Sales, Editorial, etc.
  • Track and optimize performance, including results of development initiatives, and report to management

Requirements
  • Must be located in the Chicago area within reasonable proximity to Evanston, IL
  • Must have 3-5 years experience in product management, preferably in the online space
  • Must be creative, a self-starter, and solid at multitasking
  • Must have experience creating Business and Functional Requirements documents as it relates to product development
  • Must have a high degree of comfort with Microsoft’s suite of Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Visio, etc.
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experience is a plus
  • E-commerce experience is a plus
  • Experience with the information architecture process (i.e. sitemap, wireframes, usability, etc.) is a plus
  • Experience working with external creative agencies is a plus

Web Analytics Manager


We have a diverse and talented team of employees who come to us from many kinds of backgrounds. We have an immediate need for a Web Analytics Manager. Depending upon the candidate, this position will be located in either our Naperville or Evanston, IL office.


Job Content & Scope

The Web Analytics Manager will collaborate with internal departments and ensure that the data collection, analysis, reporting and forecasting needs of the organization are met.
 

This position will play a “hands-on” role helping to define the data, analytics, and reporting needs of the business, and fulfilling those needs utilizing state of the art web analytic tools. This role will be responsible for reporting on and analyzing web traffic (type, volume, path), online and offline marketing campaigns, product performance for multiple product lines, as well as continually identifying opportunities to improve reporting and analysis. Typical deliverables for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • User-relevant reporting dashboards
  • Identification and creation of key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Daily, weekly or monthly summary reports, as necessary
  • Website behavior analysis including user path and site performance
  • Ad-hoc requests for web analytics data support
  • Organize training for new and existing users where applicable
  • Data need and collection specification
Required Experience
Knowledge/Background/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Must have recently configured at least one top tier analytics package on a large e-commerce site (Omniture SiteCatalyst experience preferred)
  • Must have 3+ years of experience working with top tier clickstream analytics package such as: HBX, Omniture, WebTrends, Click Tracks, CoreMetrics, etc. (HBX and Omniture SiteCatalyst experience preferred)
  • Must have at least one year of experience with SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) campaign reporting and analysis, preferably using a top tier analytics package.
  • Must have at least one year of experience with online marketing, such as display or e-mail, campaign reporting and analysis.
  • Must be very proficient using Excel and the rest of the MS Office Suite.
Team/Leadership Skills
  • Must work effectively both independently and as a member of a highly-focused team
  • Must use sound judgment to identify issues, troubleshoot, and escalate when appropriate
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to the relevant business departments including Marketing, Technology, etc.

Technical/Functional Skills
  • Must understand relevant technology applications as it relates to Legacy.com’s diverse product portfolio
  • Must understand server-side scripting concepts
  • Must have strong analytical skills
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and switch priorities
  • Must be proactive and show initiative
  • SQL knowledge is a plus
  • HTML knowledge is a plus

  • Ad serving software knowledge (such as Atlas) is a plus

Sales Department

Account Manager

Overview:
The Account Managers will help build and extend relationships with our existing newspaper customers. Responsible for a group of accounts, Account Managers will work across all Legacy.com product platforms, including obituaries, pets, and celebrations. Account Managers will be evaluated based primarily on goals related to:
• Affiliate retention
• Customer satisfaction
• Deepening product penetration

Responsibilities:
Account Managers will interact with customers via e-mail, phone and in-person visits. Specific responsibilities include:
• Becoming the primary business contact responsible for fully understanding the affiliate, handling affiliate requests, and resolving issues
• Executing against sales/marketing goals
• Communicating new product features/functionality
• Deepening new category penetration
• Executing contract renewals
• Required travel: up to 25%

Requirements

• 3-5 years B2B account management experience
• Already located in Chicago area within reasonable proximity to Evanston
• Documented success servicing complex accounts with multiple decision makers
• Familiarity and/or high degree of comfort with Excel, PowerPoint, PhotoShop, CRM, and other related software packages

Channel Marketing Manager

Overview
The Channel Marketing Manager’s primary responsibility will be to help form and develop channel strategies for Legacy.com.  This person will bring a high degree of creative energy, with the opportunity to develop new ideas and see them through implementation.  The Channel Marketing Manager will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact on the business and own the results.

Responsibilities
The Channel Marketing Manager’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead strategy and business development initiatives targeted at building relationships in and engaging the funeral home industry
  • Product and program development
  • Manage the development of marketing collateral
  • Create and implement account presentations to develop business relationships
  • Conduct research to identify unmet needs in the market

We currently have full-time openings customer service. The main responsibility of this position is to provide quality customer service to our Web site users. Full-time hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The positions are located in our downtown Evanston office.


Responsibilities

  • Handle phone and email inquiries from customers
  • Maintain knowledge of product lines, services and company policies; communicate this knowledge in a clear, courteous, and professional manner

Part-Time Expert Reader - Work from Home!


Seeking computer-savvy workers who like to read. Stay-at-home-parents, freelancers, and retirees welcome!

Do you want to work part time and contribute to an important service? We’re looking for people to screen online condolence messages in accordance with established guidelines. Positions start at $10/hour.

Legacy.com hosts online obituary sections for newspapers. Each of these obituaries includes an online Guest Book where friends and family can submit messages to express their condolences or share their memories. The primary task of this position is to read these messages before they are posted online to ensure that inappropriate or offensive material does not appear in the Guest Book.

Available Shifts
(all shifts are 20 hours/week; 5 four-hour shifts except the Friday through Monday shift which is 16 hours/week; 4 four-hour shifts; all are Central time):
Note: the Friday through Monday shifts (2-6 pm and 6-10 pm) are our highest priority need

7 a.m.- 11 a.m.: Friday through Monday, Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday
10 a.m.- 2 p.m.: Friday through Monday, Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday - Saturday
2 p.m.- 6 p.m.: Friday through Monday, Sunday - Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday
